[skill]Concussion Shot[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Prepared Shot[/skill][wiki]Rapid Fire[/wiki][skill]Throw Dirt[/skill][wiki]Poison Tip Signet[/wiki]
and 2 optionals, res being 1 option to take into consideration.

In the case that you don't have prep shot, then go for [skill]Broad Head Arrow[/skill], remove concussion and take [skill]Needling Shot[/skill] to press the advantage of dazing spellcasters.

Barraging everything is for the braindead. It's effective, yet, it just doesn't compare to tactical killing. Be a killer, damn it!

Also, to be the best killer you can be, I would seriously consider investing in [wiki]Sloth Hunter's Shot[/wiki] since it has to be the most dangerous bow attack currently available.

The beauty of what I have suggested is that the build is interchangeable for most places you play, whether PvE or PvP. You can also swap your preperation for any number of alternatives, apply or read the wind being most popular. Barrage is useful when in groups of majority ranger based teams, or when groups cluster together.

Also, look into PvE only skills. I like this one dwarf skill that is a stance and causes you to move faster and attacker faster. It also doubles when you are drunk , so that is a twist.

Hope I have helped you on your ranger's journey.

I just got the game after it flew off my radar for awhile since the beta, so I only Prophecies for now. I'll get the other expansions when I get the chance or when the price drops.

Prophecies limits your builds, since most have moved on to other skills that are in other campaigns. Poison Arrow+Kindle is the attacker's way in Prophecies.

I'll use this, http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:R/..._Forest_Farmer, which has what you mentioned. So there's no hope for "Prophecies only" players, if they only have Prophecies?

Mantra, physical, and storm chaser are unneeded for basic PvE play. So, you can swap those out. Also, you may want to check out Punishing Shot.

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Punishing_Shot is well worth having. Punishing Shot standalone always seems to me to have a much bigger effect in PvE than you would think from the description. Going up the Snake Dance to cap it is an adventure in itself!

You can cap Poison Arrow out in Witman's Folly, not hard once you are at Draknor's Forge, well worth it against stuff that bleeds.

Having "only" Prophecies is no real problem. Prophecies has the Core Skills after all. If I'm firing interrupt for a group, Punishing Shot, Savage Shot, and Distracting Shot is an excellent combo. Throw in a trap, prep like Read the Wind or Kindle Arrows.

Just look over the skills, try different things. The other campaigns have some very nice skills, but no game breakers. Truth to tell you, if anyone is at a disadvantage it is those who have not played through Prophecies and capped all the great Prophecies elites!

Prophecies can never be looked at as being a place of 'disadvantage'. Just that the more recent builds use more non prophecies skills. Prophecies is the best place to start playing ranger, imho.

If you need ingame help or advice, feel free to PM me.
